(01) Our story
Aulen was founded in 2011 by Ida Holm and Jonas Brandt, two architects who believed good buildings should be quiet, useful and made to last.
We started in a basement on Vesterbro with one client and a borrowed plotter. Today we are a team of twenty-eight, working on houses, housing, libraries and chapels across Scandinavia.
The way we work has not changed. Every project starts on paper, every material is chosen for how it will age, and every building is designed for the people who will use it every day.

Site first
We spend time on every plot before we draw a line. Light, wind, views and neighbours shape the plan.

Few materials
One or two honest materials, used well, age better than many used carelessly.

Built to last
We design for a hundred years: robust structure, flexible plans and details that can be repaired.
