Every project at Aulen starts on paper. Here is why the pencil is still our fastest design tool.
Before anyone opens a laptop, every project at Aulen begins with a soft pencil and a roll of tracing paper. It is not nostalgia. A hand drawing is quick, loose and easy to throw away, which makes it the best way we know to think.
Thinking at the speed of a line
On screen, a wall is a precise object from the first click. On paper, it can stay a rough idea for as long as we need. That freedom lets us test ten plans in an afternoon instead of one.
Drawing together
Our Friday reviews happen around a big table, with everyone drawing over each other’s sketches. The best ideas often come from a line someone else started.
