About the project
The brief
The family wanted a house that would feel calm in every season: open to the sea in summer, sheltered and warm through the long Danish winter.
A single material
Walls, floors and the long bench that runs the length of the living room are all cast from the same lime-washed concrete. The surfaces were left as they came out of the formwork, so the grain of the timber boards is still visible.
Light from above
Three roof lights pull daylight deep into the plan. On a clear morning the light moves slowly across the walls, and the house changes with it.
